About Me

I am Lawrence Weber, a general lover of digital things, Head of Digital at Karmarama, FWA judge and writer, contributor to brand-e and a member of the IPA Digital Business Group.

If you really need to, then you can take a look at my LinkedIn profile or FWA interview for all the detail, but stay here for interesting stuff I find and some stuff of my own.

BTW- I live on an island called West Mersea, hence the oh so clever name of this blog.

BEING HENRY

CLIENT: Land Rover

PROJECT: Being Henry

DATE: July 2011

AGENCY: The Brooklyn Brothers

PRODUCTION COMPANY: Less Rain, Somesuch & Co

PROJECT TYPE: Website

As part of our ongoing launch of the Range Rover Evoque we were asked to communciate the many personalisation options available. whilst telling a story that would engage our target audience.

We created an immersive film that took people on a journey through 9 different storylines and 32 potential endings. It was an interactive action-love-fantasy-comedy-adventure about choices in which people could (subtly) create their own personalised Range Rover Evoque. Being Henry allowed the viewer to jump into the story and take control of Henry's actions. The result was an engaging, humorous and different way for a car company to advertise their product.

ONE LIFE THE MOVIE

CLIENT: BBC Worldwide

PROJECT: BBC Earth- ONE LIFE THE MOVIE

DATE: July 2011

AGENCY: The Brooklyn Brothers

PRODUCTION COMPANY: Stink Digital

PROJECT TYPE: Website

As part of the continuing campaign to raise the profile of the BBC Earth brand, we helped them launch their first feature film, One Life, which re-imagined the hit series One Life for the big screen.

The concept for the site- developed in conjunction with our good friends at Stink Digital- was simple. Rather than build a microsite about a film trailer, we turned the whole site into a trailer. Users could watch the entire the trailer through, or drag up and down to access special features.

LIFE IS

CLIENT: BBC Worldwide

PROJECT: BBC Earth- LIFE IS

DATE: August 2010

AGENCY: The Brooklyn Brothers

PRODUCTION COMPANY: FI

PROJECT TYPE: Website, Desktop Adobe Air App, Mobile Web

Although reknowned in the UK for its natural history content, BBC Earth- the brand created to resell BBC natural history content worldwide- is often obscured by foreign partner channels that show the content.

Our brief was to create a site full of beautiful snack sized, shareable content, that would engage people who wouldn’t normally watch natural history shows.

We designed an interface which made searching and exploring incredibly easy and rewarding, dropping scientific based search keyword searches for sliders which allowed users to see content on the Warm>Cold, Slow>Fast and Sea>Sky axis.

Our social media outreach campaign pulled in key natural history bloggers and media partners- The Huffington Post for example- and drove traffic back to the site

Helloevoque.com

CLIENT: Land Rover

PROJECT: www.helloevoque.com

DATE: July 2010

AGENCY: The Brooklyn Brothers

PRODUCTION COMPANY: FI

PROJECT TYPE: Website, iPhone and Android App

The Evoque was a real departure for Land Rover, smaller, more nimble and more fuel efficient.

Helloevoque.com was created to launch the Pulse of the City campaign, which was created to celebrate the Evoque as a car created for and by the city.

As well as showcasing the car, it shows the favourite city journey of the Evoque City Shapers and lets users track and upload thier own journeys through the city, via an IoS or Android App.
