About Me

I am Lawrence Weber, a general lover of digital things, Head of Digital at Karmarama, FWA judge and writer, contributor to brand-e and a member of the IPA Digital Business Group.

If you really need to, then you can take a look at my LinkedIn profile or FWA interview for all the detail, but stay here for interesting stuff I find and some stuff of my own.

BTW- I live on an island called West Mersea, hence the oh so clever name of this blog.

The guys at FWA and brand-e are kind enough to let me contribute content, here are links to some FWA things

Mercedes You Drive

This in an interesting campaign from Mercedes.

During the ad break of this saturday's X Factor, you'll be able to influence the narrative development of 3 seperate ads.

There is only this trailer at the moment, I'll be tuning in anyway ;), and I might even update this post with my thoughts on how it works.

Toyota Plug-In Championship

This is nice.

To launch their new Prius PHV electric car, Toyota have launched the Plug-In app.

I hear you yawning already, but this is an app that some people might actually use ;).

Every time you plug you charge your phone, the App records the time and your location and gives you a score.

Your reward is a random but entertaining video, and entry on to a scoreboard.

It's a nice piece of gentle gamification, that doesn't demand too much. The rewards could be a little better explained though.

Smack a Candidate

It's election time again and this time you can use the power of social media against Obama. (If you want to, I mean you are more likley to want to use it against Romney. Unless you are a Republican, in which case please stop reading this blog.)

Everytime one of the candidates says someting you don't like, just use the hashtag smackromney. The punches will be landed in a series of live bouts.

Branch- A start on an experiment

The only purpose of this post is to say that I've signed up for Branch and I'm seeing how well you can embedd it's threaded conversations into a blog.

It's an interesting idea to allow people to take a nascent conversation from Twiiter and allow it to grow depth somewhere else.

Lexus- Million Mile Test Drive

This is a lovely piece of content led marketing with great depth. The site documents the huge passion and effort that goes into bringing a new car into the world and externalises this- and therefore the product benefit points- for consumers.

It's beautifully shot and has a lovely UI.
