About Me

I am Lawrence Weber, a general lover of digital things, Head of Digital at Karmarama, FWA judge and writer, contributor to brand-e and a member of the IPA Digital Business Group.

If you really need to, then you can take a look at my LinkedIn profile or FWA interview for all the detail, but stay here for interesting stuff I find and some stuff of my own.

BTW- I live on an island called West Mersea, hence the oh so clever name of this blog.

The guys at FWA and brand-e are kind enough to let me contribute content, here are links to some FWA things

Clever old Kaiser Chiefs

This is a really smart idea from Kaiser Chiefs and W+K.

Kaiser Chiefs have created 20 songs. You pick 10, design your own cover and download the album for £7.50.

You can then sell that album on a web page they provide you with and take a £1 cut.

I wonder if the music lives up to the marketing.

Oh and a nice site by Special Moves too

Playable Retro Handheld games gallery

What is there to say about this, other than this is the work of genius.

Great True Blood Campaign

HBO always seem to do interesting stuff around thier programming and the online campaign for the new series of True Blood is nice too.

B-Reel and BBDO New York have made this immersive experience which rewards true fans and encourages users to spend a lot of time with the site and therefore the show's content.

Basically, you hunt through an online film and answer questions when you find clues, getting points and badges- which can be shared on Facebook, of course ;)- in the hope that you can win an epic TB prize.

Google gets ready for mobile payment

There is a lot of chat around NFC (Near Field Communications- read more about it here) and how it will revolutionise the world of retail. Basically you can pay for stuff in a shop with your phone. Magic, eh.

To that end Google is trialiing the use of it with some key US retailers. With Apple rumoured to be adding NFC to the iPhone 5, the battle lines are being drawn for the next tech battle

YouTube interactive music machine

This is a head slap moment. Such a simple idea but really simple and very, vey good.

Basically you use the numebrs on your keyboard to mix the video.
